Xbox App Updated to Include Touch Controls
Jan-29-2024
Microsoft is actively working on introducing touchscreen controller functionality to the Xbox application for both Android and iOS devices. This upcoming feature will enable users to operate their consoles and enjoy Xbox games on their smartphones, eliminating the need for a physical controller.
This approach is similar to what's already being utilized in Xbox Cloud Gaming, where a virtual controller interface is overlaid on the mobile app's screen, allowing players to interact with games as if they were using a traditional controller. This touch control feature is already integrated with many games available on the Xbox platform, such as "Hades," "Minecraft Dungeons," and "Yakuza: Like a Dragon."
While traditionalists may still favor physical controllers, the ability to access and play Microsoft's extensive game library on the go, using just a smartphone, represents a significant enhancement in gaming accessibility and convenience.
