Project Awakening is Not Cancelled; Developer is “Working Hard Behind the Scenes”
Apr-25-2024
As of 2024, while Granblue Fantasy: Relink has seen successful releases, Cygames' other anticipated action RPG, Project Awakening, is still under wraps as developers continue to perfect it. Despite the prolonged development, the team behind Project Awakening has recently reassured its followers through a tweet that the project is still underway and not shelved. They hinted at striving to deliver an exceptional gaming experience and suggested that new updates or possibly a trailer might be released in the upcoming months, potentially during events like the Summer Game Fest.
Initially announced in 2016 for the PS4, Project Awakening is a fantasy action RPG crafted on Cygames’ proprietary engine, Cyllista Game Engine. Considering the elapsed time since its announcement, it is plausible that an adaptation for the PS5 is also in development.
The most recent glimpse into the game was a gameplay trailer released back in 2018, where players saw a medieval warrior engage in fierce combat with a colossal monster. In 2019, the game earned a rating from South Korea’s GRAC under the name Project Awakening: Arise, and in 2021, a demo showcasing the capabilities of the game engine surfaced. Thereafter, updates have been sparse until the latest announcement.
Fans of Project Awakening continue to wait eagerly for more substantial news as the development team pushes on with their efforts to polish this highly anticipated game.
