Destiny 2’s Cayde-6 Receives the Memorial He Deserves
Mar-01-2023
In the world of Destiny 2, Cayde-6 was a vanguard of the Guardians, most known for his wise-cracking, Nathan Fillion-voiced jokes. His death in September 2018 was a dramatic moment for players, being the first major on-screen character to die in the fight against the Darkness. With the release of the game’s latest expansion, Lightfall, Cayde-6 finally gets the memorializing he deserves.
Players can visit the Tower and examine the new Monument to Fellowship, a bust of Cayde-6 with a plaque showing his beloved gun, the Ace of Spades. Approaching the monument triggers a selection of messages from characters in the game. One such message from Crow is particularly ironic since Crow was Uldren Sov, the man who murdered Cayde-6 in the first place.
Bungie has answered players’ requests for a memorial to Cayde-6 with this monument, which is far better than previously requested ramen coupons. It is a fitting tribute to the much-loved character and a reminder of the toll taken by the fight against the Darkness.
In addition to the Monument to Fellowship, the Tower has undergone more dramatic changes. After the Traveller left to meet the Witness head-on, the Tower is flooded with the ships of our allies: Awoken, Eliksni, and Cabal standing guard and protecting humanity’s last safe city.
In conclusion, Lightfall is a reminder of the impact Cayde-6 had on the world of Destiny 2 and of the price the Guardians pay in their fight against the Darkness. His memorial at the Tower is a fitting tribute, ensuring his memory will live on and inspiring Guardians to keep going on the path of righteousness and justice.
